Picture or Masterpiece?

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

I’ve been busted! I haven’t written a new post in a while. Time has been blowing by so fast that I have been bent over backwards. I am here now and I want to share something that I have been working through.

I have been doing alot of thinking lately about my next move as an internet entrepenuer wondering how I could go about racking up a huge pile of accomplishments. While talking to several of our friends that smacked me repeatedly with a cosmic 2×4 I snapped back to reality. Even though I am fully aware that I am learning a whole new world and way of working I was still beating myself up about the inches I was gaining wondering why I haven’t reached the mile mark.

So are you ready to hear the sound of the 2×4? When you are working to achieve your goals it is vital to have the end results in sight. However if you focus on them more than you should you can easily become discouraged and invite Mr. Doubtful to join you in your ventures. While this isn’t the exact route I had taken I was getting very close to stumbling on that path.

Why would I tell you about what would appear as such a negative process? There are several reason I felt that I should share this with you. As negative as my statements may seem they are actually a positive step in the right direction. I am not drowning myself in them, I am reconizing them, so that I can avoid making a similar mistake in the future. I also know there are many others out there who have either been there or could be there now without realizing it.

There is a big difference between knowing the end result of a goal and how far you have to travel to reach it from focusing on the end result. It sounds the same but the difference is that when you know the end result of your goal you will tend to follow logical steps to reach it. If you are only focusing on the end result the steps can become blurry causing delays or even make you want to abandon the goal all together out of frustration. Take it from me that this is a fine line to walk.

So I have spent some time adjusting my focus to keep the end in sight and encourage myself to take the steps to reach the mile mark. Instead of working towards the “big picture” that I had developed of my goal that causes me to miss a step or two along the way.

Now it’s up to you! Will you work towards the “big picture” or follow the paint by number method to create your masterpiece?

Gotta Love Graphics

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

Using graphics is a good way to liven up your website or visually reiterate something you are writing about. However creating graphics can be a bit of trouble if your like me and do not have a talent for it! Today I spent some time creating my first very own graphic from scratch.

While I was writing the article Success Stems From Your Thoughts I had a picture that popped into to my head of a graphic I could create to go with the article. Mind you, I do not have much experience in working with or creating graphics. Regardless of this I was determined to bring the graphic I had envisioned to reality. I was going to create a freshly bloomed rose using the word thoughts for the stem, success for the petals, and you for the center of the bloom. My intention was to symbolize that your mindset (thoughts) would grow and bloom into success around you. I was so excited about my ingenius idea that I wanted to get started as soon as possible!

Before long, I found it more difficult than I had imagined to curve the word thoughts so that it would look like a stem. Using gimp2 (a free resource) I found a function that made it possible. Filled with anticipation I moved into the next phase, creating the rose pedals. I entered success (the word) and searched through the program trying every option I could think of to curve the word so it would look like a rose petal. Finding this part of the design to be difficult since I could not manipulate it properly. More determined than ever I continued to play with the program options trying all of the distortions types that were available.

After a while it became apparent that I had run into a dead-end, not wanting to abandon my idea, I began to think of an alternative to the original. In my search to distort the petals I found it was easier to leave them strait, and add a bit of flair, then it was to curve them.

All of a sudden it hit me I could create a dandelion instead, which is popularly known as a wishing flower. Someone told me when I was little that if you pick a dandelion you could make a wish and if you blew all of the petals off in one try your wish would come true.

A dandelion is similar to having a proper mindset, with a dandelion you would need to focus on making your wish (mindset you have to think of and see your goal as a reality) and take a deep breath and blow as hard as you can to eliminate all petals in one try causing them to float off into the sky (believe it is possible, take necessary actions towards your goal, and by doing so even without realizing it you will naturally begin to move in the direction you are aiming for) and then your wish comes true!

I will admit that I had originally thought of creating a rose, but I have to say that I am glad that things worked out the way they did. I have learned more about creating graphics. In the process I created a design that, in a glance, can remind you that your mindset is the way to fulfill your wishes!

Once again I have realized how the pot holes in the road of life are there so that you will steer in the right direction!

Remember Success Stems From Your Thoughts!

Success Stems From Your Thoughts!

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007

Success stemming from your thoughts can sound like an insane person’s ramblings. Let me convince you of my sanity, before you call in the fellows with the straight jacket! What I am referring to is mindset! Mindset is made up of your overall beliefs, actions, and mental state. The Mindset can make or break a person, career opportunity, or relationship.

If you were to find yourself unhappy in an aspect of your life then you are likely to focus in on what is causing it. In doing so you are surrounded with negative thoughts, which most likely leads to negative actions, therefore increasing your misery. (Your actions are a direct result of your thoughts and beliefs!) Which is why having a proper mindset is an extremely important part of your life. This does not mean you can simply wish happiness into reality or make it happen with positive thoughts or talking it into existence. However if you were to believe, without a doubt, you deserve your happiness so much you can envision it, and you can speak of it as if it exists then you are going to take the steps to make it happen, often without even realizing you are doing it!

When I started working on-line I had a lot of reservations about becoming an on-line marketer! I used every excuse that is known to man to delay getting started. Worst of all I let fear of failure control me! At that point I believed that I didn’t have the proper knowledge and drive needed to achieve as much as those who have already made a name (not to mention a fortune) for themselves on-line. Oh man, not only was I wrong but I was actually sabotaging my dream.

Then one day I stopped using the excuses! Deciding there was nothing to fear than the fear itself. I chose to believe that I could achieve recognition as an internet marketer and found myself starting to envision how it would be. After doing this I found it easy to give myself credit for my ability to learn quickly. In turn I began to believe that my knowledge would continue to advance in the future as technology changes. As for my drive, I found myself working through the night with excitement. By changing your mindset you can simply realize your potential or bring around life changing events.

There is everything to gain, and nothing to lose, when your mindset is to believe in success to such extremes that cause you to make the changes that are necessary to bring them into reality!

Turning Dreams Into Success

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

My husband and I were sitting on our porch having one of our many business conversions. (You may already know my wonderful husband, Xavier Nelson, who is making quite a name for himself in the world of internet marketing.) Our discussion was regarding the best way I could make my entry into the marketing world. So there we were, in the midst of the conversation, and he suggested that I should write an article. After the studdering subsided, I was wondering if I could accomplish what would seem to be an easy task. Sitting there I gathered my thoughts and managed to muster up the conviction that I needed to get started. I stepped inside and went to my computer and began writing. Putting my focus into the task at hand until I produced an article (if your curious it’s Stepping into the World of Internet Marketing). Feeling a sense of success I asked my husband to take a look and offer his opinion! He gave me some constructive criticism and my next task!

Through kind words and alot of chuckling he informed me that I would be building a website. I have some experience building websites however it is still a bit of a struggle for me. So you can imagine my surprise! The rest of the day flew by while I picked a domain name and began constructing TurnDreamsIntoSuccess.com.

That is exactly what I have done! In my past building experiences I have spent a large amount of time in the construction phase. TurnDreamsIntoSuccess.com has been in all a full day of construction! A huge success for me! I was so excited to think that I can share with others the things I have learned, want to learn, or just some of the experiences I have along the way.

I have now completed an important event, turning one of my dreams into a success!
